To Whom it May Concern,
In my role as a consultant physician to the Vancouver Canucks, Canadian Olympic Team physician in Sochi 2014, and Physician Lead of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, I have practical experience with the changes in management of head injuries in professional sport. Concussion management in professional vs. amateur sport tends to be very different. I believe the time has come for us to facilitate change in concussion management at the minor league, recreational and youth sport level. Fifteen to twenty percent of all participants in contact sport will suffer a concussion. Current amateur sport policies do not always result in optimal management of these frequently occurring injuries.
The Surrey Beavers would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the sponsors of the 4th Annual Ruck for a Cure fundraiser. The 22 sponsors will all receive a spot on a 1st grade jersey for the Breast Cancer Awareness game on October 17 against Langley Rugby Club. The jerseys will be sold after the game in a live auction at the Beaverlodge. All proceeds from the auction will be given directly to the Cancer Society and a local family that has been impacted by breast cancer.
Here is the list of the businesses and individuals who sponsored a jersey:
The Surrey Beavers AA will be hosting the 4th Annual Ruck For A Cure fundraiser this October 17 and the club will be looking at surpassing the $50,000 mark for funds raised. The fundraiser includes a full day of rugby action at Sullivan Heights with the Beavers 1st grade team wearing a unique set of breast cancer awareness jerseys. After the matches at the field the jerseys will be auctioned off (after they are washed) at the clubhouse in a very exciting live auction.
The Beavers are looking at getting local sponsors who'd like to support a great cause and get their company logo on the front side of a jersey.
The sponsorship cost to get a logo on the set of breast cancer awareness jerseys is $200.00 per jersey.
The money from the sponsorships will help pay for the cost of designing and ordering the jerseys and help subsidize the cost of putting on a great fundraiser. All funds that are raised from the live auction and silent auction at the clubhouse will go to a local family impacted by breast cancer and to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
